Dead Star

you stand still, homed diva.
carrier of secret songs
to the dirt-hungry daybreak.

Triton abandons you
for drifting ashore
where you skulk for seagulls;
fish the midday gods.

pressed flat among
scattered stones,
a strange faun gathers
your cold skin.

adorned with promises
of city fame you are staged
atop a chiffonier, half lit
before all faces framed---

a dead star in a room.

  1. once you are done, you are often displayed to the next generations especially if you have been considered as an important part of history.

  3. Wonderful poem, Kelvin. I like the 'carrier of secret songs.' Sounds alluring but also a bit mysterious. And those promises of 'city fame,' I wonder if they really happen. Hope they will not turn into empty promises instead!

  7. I like so much how you tie it all together with that single line of a dead star.. Somehow it's like strands coming together and you see a cobweb shimmering,

A fading star, out of the limelight, almost invisible, but still there, aching to be seen.

    Mysteriously intriguing.
